Tungsten, with the highest melting point among refractory metals at 3422°C, offers robustness and extraordinary tensile strength, making it suitable for thin wire drawing. Its corrosion resistance is notably reliable.
It can be easily combined with other refractory metals (e.g. steel, copper, iron) to create alloys and it lends itself well to the machining process.
Tungsten applications include: lighting elements, X-ray targets, heating elements, missile components, and its high density makes it ideal for counterweights.
